Isn't there a tool on the interwebz that will tell you how many (and possibly which) websites refer you to a page ? That'd be interesting...

I know such things are available for whoever is administering the site, but I don't know of any for the average user.

I have a friend on Facebook who went to college for fashion design and currently lives on a weird New Mexico pseudo-commune. She has never even driven a car, let alone has any level of interest in them, and she shared the story, and a ton of her friends reshared it.

Cool shit, Torch.

Fuck that article. I made a comment about how that project must have some serious problems if its been in roughly the same state since 2010 (seriously, they released almost the EXACT SAME promo stuff three years ago) and a bunch of accounts commented on it. Weirdly enough, it was the first comment those accounts ever made.....huh.....funny how that works.

Personally, I don't think that deserves any additional press right now until they get their shit together. If they do a live demonstration? Maybe have some products to buy? Yeah that's news worthy for sure. But now? Nope.

You mean it's almost like an article that got shared a lot outside the usual circles had a lot of people signing up to comment on it, on a site that purposefully implements a system to allow for rapid anonymous signups?

Chill, man. These sorts of things take time. If I'm going to put an explosive around my neck to protect my brain parts, I'd like it to have undergone a lot of work.

It's certainly not worth getting mad about.

Also, the hallmark of planted posts is always that awkward wording like "Just because you don't understand how the Revolutionary Invisihelm by Swedecraft works doesn't mean you should post negative comments"

Trust me, its better than the series of Gizmodo posts a few years back that got shared across all of the Gawker sites promoting some book, diet, and workout that turned out to be some internet contest that the promoters gave money to whoever got the most people to buy the book. It was before burners and marked sponsorship posts. Posts themselves were disguised, quite bad, and the comments were worse, with people saying how amazing the posts were.
